Assessors play an important role in the assessment process. The Assessor Assessment (also known as verification) provides an objective assessment of each employee’s competence by an impartial third party.
The Assessor Assessment is conducted after the employee assessment and the supervisor assessment are complete. You must be granted Assessor privileges in CMS Online in order to complete this step.
You will begin on your CMS Online dashboard. On the left navigation menu, expand the Assessment menu and click Assessor Assessment.
The Assessor landing page will display. All employees and competency roles that have been assigned to you or that you have selected (for Assessor - Unrestricted) will display here.
Use the sort and filter options to locate the employee and competency role you will assess.
Click Start in the Assess column to begin the assessment.
The competency units you selected to assess will display. Click a hyperlinked CU title to access detail.
If you want to add additional CUs to assess or remove CUs click on Modify CUs button, which will open a screen displaying all available CUs of an employee. Select/Deselect CUs from the grid and click Submit.

The competency unit assessment screen will display. Check the box next to each skill statement the employee knows or can do. Add comments and/or evidence to support your final decision.
Proceed through all CUs in the same manner.
Once the assessment is finished, enter the date of assessment completion in the "Assessment Date" field next to the "Submit" button.
Check the "Keep me assigned to this employee/role" checkbox if you would like to maintain your assignment to the selected employee.
Click Submit when above steps complete.
Optional Step (Select CUs) - On assessment summary page, before you begin assessment, tick the box in the Select column to select competency roles for assessment. Click Start in the Select CU column to begin to select competency units (CUs).
Select CUs to assess, using assessment scores and priority as guides, and click SUBMIT.
At this point, you may choose to create assessment plans for each of the competency units requiring assessment. For detailed instructions, see the related article Assessment Planning. If you choose to skip planning, or after you have created the plan, you are ready to begin the assessment.
