New to CMS Online? Let's explore!
Screenshots and descriptions used in this article are from CMS Online version 4.26.
Dashboard
The dashboard is the single launch point for all CMS Online users. Depending upon their assigned access level, users can access competency assessment and gap analysis, training resources and development, mandatory training, curriculum training pathways, management and individual employee reports and competency content of 3,000-plus topics.
Assessments
CMS Online enables three types of assessments: employee, supervisor and assessor. Consistent screen design and functionality across the three assessment types allows users to complete the assessments and submit supporting comments and/or upload work products as evidence of knowledge or skill.
My Assessment
Each employee performs a self-assessment against every competency unit (CU) linked to the competency roles assigned to them. Indicate your level of proficiency, submit supporting comments and/or upload work products as evidence if desired.
My Employees' Assessment
Supervisors can assess each of their direct reports against their assigned competency roles. Supervisors may also assign a competency role to be assessed by a Secondary Supervisor. CMS Online provides an intuitive set of screens to launch and manage the assessments, upload evidence and add comments to the assessment.
Assessor Assessment
An assessor can complete an assessment after the supervisor and employee assessments have been completed, providing an objective assessment by an impartial third party. Assessors select specific competencies to assess after reviewing the supervisor and employee assessment results, and conduct further assessment where large variances exist. Assessors can be external subject matter experts (SME) or can be company employees who are trained in the assessment process. The assessor can upload evidence and record comments directly into the system.
Competency Development Plan
Once the assessment is complete, each employee builds a Competency Development Plan based on skill gaps, using prematched learning events to help close gaps. The employee can then submit the plan and request approval from their supervisor. Mentors may also build and submit plans on behalf of assigned mentees.
Mandatory Training
The Mandatory Training feature is used to assign and track mandatory and compliance training across all business locations and functions. Training such as Health, Environment and Safety courses may be required by your organization, and in some cases, may also be required as a result of government mandate. Users are alerted to mandatory training that is coming due or past due right from their dashboard.
Learning Curriculum
Learning Curriculum provides the ability to create customized curricula in CMS Online. Bundles of learning events are created and assigned to jobs or individuals and can include all types of learning: e-Learning, webinars, workshops, mentoring and on-job assignments.
Elective Training
CMS Online accomodates three types of elective course assignments: self-assign (direct course launch), assignment by an administrator, and request/approve. Users can search IHRDC's Dynamic Course Catalog and launch approved courses from the dashboard.
My Reports
Reports to support an employee's progress through assessment and learning feature assessment-related reporting, as well as training resources for filling gaps.
